Online Assistant Dean of Psychology
A Higher Ed Administrative position with responsibilities for academic and faculty affairs related to the Graduate Psychology programs’ online activity. The Online Assistant Dean will coordinate and administer the Graduate Psychology programs’ online activity, perform specified cross-campus functions as assigned by the Dean and coordinate oversight of online activity with the Argosy University Online service provider EDMC Online Higher Education (AUO " Pittsburgh). The Online Assistant Dean-Graduate Psychology Programs also holds the commensurate faculty rank within Argosy University. Administrative Duties Programmatic Planning and Operations • Ensure program compliance with University, state, and accreditation policies • Provide timely responses to requests and inquiries as well as feedback to all internal, external, current and potential stakeholders. • Help prepare and present annual departmental review. • Help establish and maintain advisory committees to review curriculum content and quality parameters. • Attend, participate and/or lead committee meetings, task forces, residencies, and retreats as needed • Attend Commencement and other major university events Manages and Leads Online Graduate Psychology Adjunct and Full-time Faculty • In collaboration with AUO, assures the credentialing of and recommends the selection of full-time Graduate Psychology faculty to the Dean • In collaboration with AUO, assures the credentialing of and selects adjunct Graduate Psychology faculty who teach online. • In collaboration with AUO, leads the orientation, development and evaluation of Graduate Psychology full-time and adjunct faculty. • Ensures that Graduate Psychology faculty are in compliance with AU policies as they relate to online instruction as well as accreditation standards. • Ensures appropriate paperwork is completed by faculty in a timely manner. • Investigates and resolves faculty problems under the direction and approval of the Dean and in collaboration with the Senior Director of Online Programs and Instruction or his or her designee. • Conducts online course observations and reviews the faculty evaluation snapshot report each session completed by the Instruction Department. • Provides feedback concerning faculty performance and arranges for faculty mentors as needed. • Collaborates with the AUO Director of Instruction in ongoing evaluation activities and in preparing and participating in the annual faculty review process. Also collaborates on Faculty Development & Training, Faculty Trainers, Online Mentors, and other personnel to identify faculty development needs and leads the development and implementation of faculty initiatives. Academic Quality and Integrity • Monitors and spot checks online courses to ensure quality standards are being met • Reviews daily faculty activity report to ensure faculty course expectations are being met. • Processes admission exceptions in collaboration with the Dean • Processes Transfer of Credit Evaluations in collaboration with the Dean • Ensures faculty have set up all classes and learning tutor centers prior to the beginning of each session in the academic semester • Collaborates with AUO to ensure course competencies are included in every online course • Collaborates with AUO curriculum development process to ensure each online course is developed in a manner to effectively and efficiently deliver a quality online experience • Communicates regularly with constituents from both AU and AUO regarding program and course curriculum content and instructional delivery. Manages the Student Experience • Manages the educational process ensuring every student is involved in a positive educational experience through leadership and collaboration with the entire campus and online community. • Acknowledges and addresses student problems • Investigates student problems as needed by reviewing course activity, and speaking with faculty, Academic Advisors and other staff related to the problems • Resolves problems in collaboration with AUO and with AU campus administrators and chairs (as needed), under the direction and approval of the Dean. • Resolves Academic Integrity problems with the AUO Director of Student Affairs and (as needed), under the direction and approval of the Dean Regular and Effective Communication • Participates in meetings either in person or via teleconference as required by the Program Chair, VP of Online, Distance, and Blended Learning, or Senior Director of Online Programs, which may involve periodic travel. • Provides program specific consultation, training, and collaboration with functional areas of AUO. Teaching Responsibilities • The Online Assistant Dean is required to teach one online course per academic year unless waived by the Dean. Position Requirements Doctoral degree in Psychology from an APA certified Program, previous college-level teaching experience, and work-place experience directly related to the online programs • At least one year of online teaching experience with excellent teaching skills as evidenced in prior teaching evaluations. Two to three years online teaching experience preferred. • At least one year Administrative experience in an Academic setting. • Online Instructional Design experience and use of digital multimedia resources • High-level technology proficiency, with relevant software proficiency as required by the specified program area Note: Please mention Get Psychology Jobs (GetPsychologyJobs.com) in your cover letter when applying.
